Happy Mother's Day!

It was Mother's day last Sunday. As we may go out to have a dinner with our mother, baseball players still need to play baseball that day. However, they can still have some good ways to honor the greatest women on this planet.

Pink all around the field

There are pink shoes, pink bat, pink shin guards, pink wrist lets, pink face masks, even the bag is pink, and so many things that its color can be changed into pink. LOL

All these are aimed at supporting one of the greatest non government organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. MLB.com  now has pink bat for sale, all of its revenue will be donated to Komen. This organization mainly helps those who suffered from breast cancer.

Also, a lot of pre-game events are held to honor all the mothers around the globe and all the breast cancer survivors.

911's influence on baseball

Generally, the season started in April, and goes on all the way to October when the playoff start.
New York has two different baseball teams, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets.
Mets is especially important, because its stadium is closer to the World Trade Center where 911 happened.
Why I mentioned this is because Osama Bin Laden was killed by American Army few days ago.
Here is a video that one of the player in Mets talked about what he saw and how he felt when they played their first home game in 9/21, 2001.

Here Here~~^_^

What's more coincident is that, when President Obama was making an official announcement of Osama's death, the Mets was playing with the Phillies. The most coincident part is that, I watched this game........all of a sudden, I can clearly hear fans in the stadium were all yelling USA, USA through the live broadcast. That's the moment when I found out that the USA army had killed the person that the American nation hated the most.

It's quite important thing I guess, although I thought everybody knows about it.

Circus catch

Click on me to watch
(Computer in our classroom seems to have some problems watching the videos)

This is Carlos Gomez making a great grab in the center field.
Since nobody in this class seems to take watching baseball as a habit.  :(
I decided to share some interesting videos of baseball.  :)

Old lady threw back the home run ball

The lady surprisingly caught the hom run ball hit by the other team. It is a rule in baseball that you need to threw it back into the ball park. She bravely threw it back, although didn't actually make it back. She received some gifts from the home team for her action. It is interesting to watch the interaction between her and the reporter. :)

Manny Retires.....

People in Taiwan who loves baseball and Chien-Ming Wang may find it really hard to accept the fact that Manny Ramirez is retiring. Manny Ramirez, being named as Wang's killer by Taiwan's media for his ability to hit Wang well, announced his retirement after being involved in a drug program again this year.Instead of facing a 100-game suspension,he decided to call it a career. He was once thought of one of the baseball's best right-handed hitter----in all-time scale. He is well known for his clutch hitting ability.

Here is some of his great moments. The most important part of these videos is not how far the ball traveled, but his action after his hit the ball. Watch how confident he was.

2009 Postseason NLCS Game 1

Really amazing and dramatic home run.

2007 ALDS with Red Sox

This one is a bit older, but still really exciting.

Is the season already over for Red Sox?

Boston Red Sox, thought to be one of the American league's most competitive team , has a 2-8 record after 10 games. Fortunately enough for Red Sox fans, the "two" both came from the team that they wanted the most---The New York Yankees. However, it is still really hard for all the fans around the globe to accept that ,after all, the Red Sox signed Carl Crawford for 7 years,142 million us dollars deal and made a 4-for-1 trade for one of the league's best first base man, Adrian Gonzalez .The Red Sox started the season with a six game losing streak, which finally ended by defeating their rival.

Brand New Season!

The all new MLB season started on the last day of March, which was April 1 in Taiwan.
So far each team has at least played 4 games, and there are a lot of amazing things going on
in every stadium. The one that drew the most attention is Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers' four games home run streak-yes, from the first day of the 2011 season.
Cruz's fourth home run
This home run ties the major league record's longest home run streak started on opening day.
There is the video of all his four homerun on each day.Cruz ties it
